The war propaganda is getting louder and louder. Patriotism is being proclaimed more and more. How much longer will it be before mandatory military service will once again be required? Certainly in Europe the process is well under way. I can only imagine that with PM Carney wanting us to be closer to Europe that Canadian lives will eventually be offered as well.
While I see our leaders continuing to try convince us to do their bidding, and they are very good at it, I would remind them that all war is failure:
War is failure to resolve issues via reason and diplomacy.
War is failure to use human creativity, given to us by God, to find non-violent solutions.
War is failure to understand that every person killed is a brother or sister also created by God.
War is failure to abide by previous agreements and promises.
War is failure to understand that all killing, including killing in war, destroys the soul of the killer.
War is failure to insist on living according to Jesus’ direction, no matter the consequences in this world.
War is failure to say ‘No’ to the evil powers of this world.
War is failure to say ‘Yes’ to Jesus Christ.
War is failure to care about the common people of the world who don’t want to have anything to do with the nonsense of war.
War is failure to put eternal life before temporary money.
War is failure to help people attain heaven and be with God through eternity.
To the leaders of this world: If you send people to war, you have failed.
To everyone else: Peace be with you.
