The Age of Aquarius is an iconic song from the 1960’s. Here’s a version from the ‘Hair’ musical’s original Broadway cast. And here’s a version from the 5th Dimension, who appended ‘Let the Sun Shine In’, and had success with that.
The other day I woke up with the Age of Aquarius song in my head. I think I hadn’t heard the song for at least 10 years. The chorus kept repeating over and over, and I couldn’t get rid of it. Anyway, after a while, I started to hear ‘Age of Obedience’ rather than ‘Age of Aquarius’, and I realized I was hearing a chorus for a song that talks to the present day.
So I sat down and worked on some lyrics for the rest of the song. Here they are:
